Midweek Morsels

A few little morsels for your Wednesday afternoon…

Laugh

I’ve been listening to The Moth podcast for years, but this story from their pilot episode is still my very favorite.  They replayed it a few weeks ago and I laughed just as hard.  It is the story about Matthew McGough’s first day as a Bat Boy for the New York Yankees.  I’m not going to spoil the story.  Grab a cup of coffee and give it a listen.

I Bet You Didn’t Know…

At least once a day, someone I don’t know looks at my feet.  Really.  I’m an inch shy of six feet.  When I walk into a restaurant or store, strangers note my height and then glance at my feet to see if I’m wearing heels or I’m really that tall.  Next time you see a woman who is pushing six feet, I bet you’ll do the same.  (I suppose I should use this as an excuse to buy really amazing shoes.)

Perhaps these? So lovely! So impractical for a NH winter! Or a life spent chasing three small children!

History Photographed is just that.  But the photos are interesting, and sometimes surprising.

Nitch has beautiful and interesting portraits of famous folks – authors, artists, actors – paired with quotes by them.  I look forward to these showing up in my feed.

What NOT to Get People for Christmas

I’m not sure how I stumbled upon this this hysterical, and strange Etsy store?  The Jennifer Mills Store is completely random, mostly tacky and really expensive (everything costs $999.99).  I’m sure it is a joke.  Right? I mean it has to be.  Items for sale include:

Val Kilmer Paper Doll Kit - only $999.99.

Whoopee Cushion for Rich People - it is bedazzled!

Things I Love Thursdays

A few little gems from my corner of the internet… or refrigerator.

Dolly.  Is there anyone who doesn’t love Dolly?  If there is, I haven’t met them.  This nifty little print by GoodSouth (on Etsy) tickled me.  What would Dolly do?  I bet whatever it was, it was funny, loyal, kind and sassy – like Miss Dolly herself.

WWDD?

I have no tattoos.  They’re just so… permanent. (Queen of the Obvious here, I know.)  But considering my aversion to inking myself I sure do pin a lot of tattoos on my Pinterest boards, and follow a lot of sweet tattoo shops and artists on Instagram.  I guess I like the medium.  I like to see what people do commit to having on their bodies forever, and I love the artistry.  So the temporary tattoos at Tattly are speaking to me.  A little weird, a little random, a little tongue-in-cheek, and a lot temporary.

My children adore temporary tattoos. At one count, my son had 14 "How to Train Your Dragon" tattoos on his body at one time. I think I would have preferred these little monsters. So cute.

What kind of message does a rabbit-smoking-a-pipe tattoo send to the world? I have no idea. But I like it.

A few months ago, I bought a bottle of this iced tea concentrate at Stonewall Kitchen and loved it!  While I typically drink my iced tea unsweetened, this tea is great, even though there is some cane sugar involved.  Finest Kind (out of Maine) makes four “Mixers & Modifiers” as they call them.  I’m looking forward to trying them, and perhaps some of the cocktail recipes they list on their site. Bonus? The bottle lasted a very, very long time.

Forget tea for 2, I'm keeping this all for myself!

Enjoy the long weekend!  And remember, no affiliate links here, just stuff I like.

Things I like Thursdays!

TIL #1 – Etsy Seller krakacraft

I don’t know Ms. Krakacraft.  Apparently, she is in Slovenia.  Her (although I suppose she could be a he?) dolls and hand-stitched lovelies are amazing.  I adore them.  I have ordered three, and will order more.  Two of her little birdies hang above my desk at work.  They make me happy.  Meet Daffy…

TIL #2- Nut Grinder by King Arthur Flour

Weird, I know.  But I love this kitchen gadget and I use it more often than I ever thought I would!  It is useful, does what it is supposed to, and takes up very little space.  And check out the King Arthur Flour site too, they have amazing goodies for baking, cooking, and everything in between.  Definitely worth a visit.

As usual, krakacraft and King Arthur Flour don’t know me from Adam.  I just love their schtuff. So there.
